Zakat Fitrah

Fulfil your Zakat Fitrah and help strengthen the community during the blessed month of Ramadhan.

What is Zakat Fitrah?

Zakat Fitrah is an obligatory charitable contribution performed by every Muslim during the holy month of Ramadhan. Unlike Zakat Harta (wealth tax), which is calculated based on accumulated assets, Zakat Fitrah is a personal levy bound to individuals to purify their soul after a month of fasting and to ensure that underprivileged members of the community can celebrate Eidul Fitr with dignity.

Why We Give

The Purpose of Zakat Fitrah

Spiritual Purification

Acts as a means for Muslims to cleanse any minor shortcomings or idle talk committed during their Ramadhan fast.

Community Welfare

Directs resources toward low-income families, elderly dependents, and vulnerable groups so that basic needs and festive meals are met across the community.

Determination of Rates

Zakat Fitrah Rates

The rate of Zakat Fitrah corresponds traditionally to one sa' (approximately 2.3 kg to 2.7 kg) of the staple food of the country — typically rice in Southeast Asia.

In Singapore, MUIS announces two rate tiers annually based on the average market price of rice.

🍚
Normal Rate
$ 5
Per person
🍚
Higher Rate
$ 8
Per person
Normal Rate: Based on the price of standard white rice consumed by the majority of the population.

Higher Rate: An optional tier based on premium rice (such as Basmati or brown rice) for individuals who wish to contribute more according to their consumption standard.
